Lakenham Inn

Travel back in time and spend a relaxing visit in the Village of Lakenham, Carver’s first settlement. The Lakenham House occupies a prominent place on the historic Lakenham Green, once the site of militia musters, concerts and social gatherings. Built in the early nineteenth century in the Federal architectural style as the home of the Reverend Jonathan Shaw, it was soon after transformed to a tavern and inn by Rufus Sherman. Sherman Hall hosted town meetings, church socials and militia gatherings as well as offering hospitality to weary travelers. Edward and Maureen Fuller have spent the past 30 years lovingly restoring the grand old house and grounds while raising their 3 sons and actively participating in the social and civic life of Carver. Their dreams of recreating the warmth and comfort of an early American inn are now a reality. |
